The Thattekad Bird Sanctuary is locate 20-km away from
Kathamangalam, on the Kochi-Munnar road and is considered to be
one of the most important bird sanctuaries in Kerala. The most
notable of the indigenous birds found in this bird sanctuary are
Malabar Grey-Horn Bill, Wood Pecker, rose winged And blue winged
Parakeer etc. Rare birds like Ceylon Frog-Moth, Rose billed
Parakeer etc are also seen over here. A boat cruise from
Boothathenkeru to Thattekad is an unforgettable bird watching
experience through the evergreen forests nesting migratory and
